Your FAQs

Planning a kitchen remodel in Los Angeles comes with important questions about cost, permits, timelines, and construction logistics. Below are clear answers to help you move forward with confidence.

1. How much does a kitchen remodel cost in Los Angeles?

Kitchen remodeling costs in Los Angeles typically vary depending on layout changes, material selections, and structural modifications. Cosmetic upgrades are more budget-friendly, while full custom renovations with high-end finishes require a larger investment. A detailed on-site evaluation allows us to provide accurate pricing.

2. Do I need permits for a kitchen remodel in Los Angeles?

Permits are required if your project involves electrical, plumbing, structural changes, or wall removal. Our team manages the entire LADBS permitting and inspection process to ensure full California code compliance.

3. How long does a kitchen remodeling project take?

Most kitchen remodels take between 6–10 weeks depending on scope, material lead times, and structural complexity. Custom luxury projects may take longer due to fabrication and specialty finishes.

4. Can I live in my home during the kitchen renovation?

Yes, many homeowners remain in their property during construction. We implement dust control systems, structured scheduling, and daily clean-up protocols to minimize disruption.

Kitchen Remodeling Across Los Angeles Neighborhoods and Housing Types

Aggregate Construction Group is a licensed kitchen remodeling contractor working through the Westside, the San Fernando Valley, and Central Los Angeles. The housing stock changes what a kitchen remodel actually involves. A 1920s Spanish bungalow in Highland Park has plaster over wood lath, knob and tube remnants, and a footprint built around an icebox. A 1960s Valley ranch has a galley layout with a bearing wall between the kitchen and the dining room. A Westside condo has a slab above and below, which rules out relocating a drain without the association’s approval.

That is why we survey before we design. Opening a wall between a kitchen and a living room is straightforward when the wall is non-bearing and expensive when it carries roof load and needs a flush beam and new posts down to the footing. We would rather find that in week one than in demolition, on this job and on every job we take as general contractors in Beverly Hills and across the county.

Layouts, Cabinetry, and Countertop Work We Handle

We reconfigure galley, L-shaped, U-shaped, and island layouts, and we open kitchens to dining and living space where the structure allows it. Cabinetry runs from semi-custom boxes with custom fronts through full custom millwork built to the room, including appliance garages, drawer banks sized to real dishware, toe-kick storage, and pantry systems that use the depth people usually waste. Countertops cover quartz, natural stone, porcelain slab, and solid surface, templated after the cabinets are set rather than off the drawing. Custom fronts, floating shelves, and integrated panels are fabricated by our own carpentry team, and the flooring that runs from the kitchen into adjoining rooms is set by the crew that handles our floor installation so the transitions land flat.

Ventilation, Electrical, and Gas Code in a Los Angeles Kitchen

Kitchen work triggers more code than any other room in the house. Countertop receptacles require GFCI protection and small appliance circuits have to be dedicated, so a remodel that adds an induction range, a wall oven, and a beverage fridge frequently outgrows the existing panel and needs a service upgrade. High capacity range hoods pull enough air that makeup air becomes a code question rather than a preference. Projects permitted now are built to the 2025 California Building Standards Code, Title 24, effective January 1, 2026, which carries the plumbing requirements in Part 5, the energy requirements in Part 6, and the CALGreen fixture and material rules in Part 11. Moving a sink or a gas line means a plumbing permit through LADBS and an inspection before the walls close. We handle the submittals and meet the inspector at rough-in and at final.

Working Around a Kitchen You Still Have to Use

Most people cannot move out for a kitchen remodel, so the schedule matters as much as the finish. We set up a temporary kitchen with the old sink, the fridge, and a countertop run where it will not sit in the work path, seal the opening with a zippered dust barrier, and run negative air during demolition. Cabinets are ordered and delivered before demolition starts rather than after, because the gap between demolition and cabinet delivery is where most kitchen projects lose weeks. Where a kitchen remodel is part of a larger job, we sequence it against the bathroom remodel so the household never loses both rooms in the same week.

Hiring a Licensed Kitchen Contractor in Los Angeles

Aggregate Construction Group holds California contractor license number 1034714 and carries general liability and workers compensation coverage. Every kitchen is contracted with a written scope, an allowance schedule for appliances and finishes so the number in the contract is the number you can actually build to, and change orders documented before work proceeds. Owners planning several rooms often run the kitchen alongside exterior work so the permit and the site setup carry more than one trade. Request a walkthrough and we will confirm scope, timeline, and next steps within one business day.
