Highland is a complete gut remodel of a Mid City home, with a small addition to expand the kitchen, new structural beams to open the floor plan, added skylights, and handmade zellige tile through the bathrooms.
The interior direction was led by Ember Studio in Chicago. Making the open kitchen work took real structural coordination, and the skylights went in after the plan opened up, which is what makes the added square footage feel larger than the number suggests.
The bathrooms became some of the strongest rooms in the project, with zellige bringing texture and movement throughout. The powder room went bolder with wallpaper and carefully selected finishes. Custom built-ins and faux beams were completed by others and we coordinated around them. See more of our custom home work across Los Angeles.
