This attached garage in Woodland Hills was converted into a finished 300 square foot studio ADU with a full kitchen and a full bathroom. At that size every inch is committed, so the plan was resolved before demolition rather than adjusted during it.

Aggregate Construction Group handled the project from the ground up, covering plans and permitting, ADU design and space planning, interior finish and material selections, and construction. For a homeowner that removes the coordination gap that appears when an architect, a designer, and a builder are hired separately, and on a 300 square foot footprint that gap is where square footage gets lost.

The kitchen was built with slim shaker white oak cabinetry paired with Taj Mahal countertops, which brings natural texture into the room while keeping it bright. In a studio the kitchen is not a separate room, so it had to read as part of the living space rather than as an appliance wall.

The bathroom follows the same material logic. Fluted wood look shower tile, pebble stone flooring, warm brass fixtures, and a floating vanity. The floating vanity is the practical decision in a bathroom this size, because the visible floor underneath is what keeps the room from feeling boxed in.

Behind the finishes the unit received new plumbing, new electrical, a mini split for heating and cooling, new lighting and fixtures, new flooring, and a complete interior build out. A garage has none of these, which is why a conversion is closer to building a small home inside an existing shell than to remodeling a room.

The result is a compact space that reads as a thoughtfully designed home rather than a converted garage. If you have an attached garage you are not using, our ADU construction team can tell you what your lot allows and what the conversion would realistically cost before you spend anything on design.

Project Note

Aggregate Construction Group handled this project end to end, from plans and permitting through interior design, material selections, and construction. On a 300 square foot conversion that single point of responsibility is what keeps the finished unit cohesive instead of assembled.
